As part of its ongoing consumer education, industry development, and stakeholder engagement initiatives, IRA hosted a three-day Insurance Open Day in Meru County from 17th to 19th June 2026 at Makutano Junction. The event provides a valuable platform for direct interaction between the Authority, insurance industry players, and members of the public, bringing insurance information and services closer to consumers at the grassroots level. The initiative is designed to reach diverse populations across different economic and geographic settings, promoting wider access to insurance knowledge and services.

The Open Day is informed by the need to address the limited public understanding of insurance products and services while strengthening collaboration among stakeholders within the insurance sector. Through exhibitions, interactive engagements, consumer education sessions, and one-on-one consultations, members of the public have an opportunity to learn about the benefits of insurance, understand their rights and responsibilities as policyholders, seek redress on insurance-related concerns, and engage directly with insurers and regulators. The event also offers industry players an opportunity to showcase their products and services while receiving feedback from consumers.

The engagement underscores the IRA’s commitment to enhancing insurance awareness, consumer protection, and financial inclusion across the country. Expected outcomes include increased public understanding of insurance, improved confidence in the insurance industry and its regulatory framework, and stronger partnerships between the Authority, industry players, and county stakeholders. Building on the success of these engagements, the Corporate Communications and Public Relations Department has planned similar Insurance Open Days in Uasin Gishu County from 24th to 26th June 2026, and concurrently in Narok and Makueni counties from 29th June to 1st July 2026, further advancing the Authority’s mission of creating an informed and financially resilient society.
